ReFurnishings sells furniture to help children in crisis

/ / Community

Have you visited ReFurnishings yet? This gently used furniture store opened in March 2024 and sells all sorts of cool pieces perfect for use as is or as a DIY project. Do you need a dresser for a kid? They’ve got several! A nice dining set? ReFurnishings has you covered, and at affordable prices. The store also sells housewares.

While ReFurnishings is a fun spot to shop for interesting furniture pieces, what’s even more interesting is the store’s back story. ReFurnishings was opened by Justice for Orphans, a Ravena-based charity that helps children and families in crisis.

The organization operates CarePortal in several counties in eastern New York, including our own Albany County. Through CarePortal, Justice for Orphans coordinates with county departments of social services and area churches to fill basic needs so kids can stay with their families instead of being placed in foster care. For example, beds are one of the most requested items by social services caseworkers to keep children in their homes. Participating churches buy the beds, bedding and other needed items and deliver them to struggling families so they can stay together.

Justice for Orphans has helped to serve more than 8,000 children in the greater Capital Region since 2018. You can learn all about Justice for Orphans at www.justicefororphansny.org.

Purchases from ReFurnishings support Justice for Orphans’s work in the area. The next time you’re looking for furniture please stop in. You might find just what you’re looking for and support a worthy cause too!
