Spring break is underway here in Ravena, Coeymans, and Selkirk and we have to ask…
How’s it going so far with your kids?
Have you been soaking up some of the great events happening around the community? Maybe you made it out to an egg hunt, explored something new at the library, or just enjoyed a slower morning together at home.
Even though a few of the week’s events have already passed, there’s still plenty of time to lean into what makes a local spring break feel special! Simple moments, fresh air, and community connection.
🐣 A Weekend Full of Community Fun
This past weekend kicked things off with some incredible local events. The 75th Annual VFW/AMVETS Post 9594 Easter Egg Hunt brought families together for a long-standing tradition filled with excitement, connection, and plenty of eggs.

Over at the RCS Community Library, kids had the chance to experience hands-on learning during Saturday Fun for Families: Experience the Magic of Electricity—a perfect mix of fun and curiosity-driven exploration.
And if your kids got their hands dirty planting during Plant a Pizza Garden earlier this week… you already know how much they loved it 🌱
Still Happening This Week at the Library
There’s still time to jump into the rest of the week’s activities at the RCS Community Library:
Thursday, April 9
🐸 Spring HOPPERS – Make a Leap Frog!
⏰ 2:00 PM | Kids of all ages welcome
Friday, April 10
🌎 Be a Conservationist
⏰ 1:00 PM | Ages 5–12
These programs are a great way to keep the momentum going—especially if you’re looking for something easy, engaging, and close to home.
When in Doubt… Get Outside
If your week has felt a little chaotic (or you just need to get everyone out of the house), our local trails are always a good idea.
Take a walk, let the kids explore, and enjoy a reset at one of these nearby spots:
- 🌿 Hannacroix Creek Preserve
- 🌳 Joralemon Park
- ⛰️ Deer Mountain Park
- 🌼 Hollyhock Hollow Sanctuary
No planning needed, just fresh air and space to roam.
It Doesn’t Have to Be Big to Be Meaningful
One of the best parts about living in Ravena, Coeymans, and Selkirk is how much there is to enjoy—right here, close to home.
Spring break doesn’t have to mean big trips or packed schedules to be special. Sometimes it’s just about taking advantage of what’s around you and spending intentional time with your kids.
Maybe that looks like:
- Stopping by a local library event
- Exploring a nearby trail or park
- Or just slowing down and enjoying a quiet morning together
There’s something really special about keeping it local and this community gives us plenty of ways to do just that.
So, tell us… what have you been up to so far this spring break?
